California requires a license for any construction work totaling $500 or more in labor and materials. Hiring an unlicensed contractor exposes you to liability, voids most recourse if the work is defective, and can affect your homeowner's insurance.
The CSLB maintains a public record for every licensed contractor in the state. It shows license status, bond information, workers' compensation coverage, and any disclosed complaints or disciplinary actions.
We encourage you to look us up. You can check our license record directly, or search license number 1136911 at cslb.ca.gov.
You should do this for any contractor you are considering, not just us.
We maintain the contractor's bond required by the State of California. As reflected in our CSLB record, the bond is held with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual) in the amount of $25,000.
Licensed subcontractors working on our projects are required to carry their own general liability and workers' compensation coverage. We request current certificates before any subcontractor begins work.
Our CSLB record reflects a workers' compensation exemption on file, based on certification that the license holds no employees at this time. Work is performed by licensed subcontractors who carry their own coverage.
Current certificates of insurance are available on request. We provide them as a matter of course before contract signing, and we are glad to have them sent directly to you or your lender.
